It was a tough weekend for the Watauga High wrestling team. The Pioneers went 0-5 at the Alexander Central Duals on Saturday in Taylorsville, N.C. But the Pioneers did have three outstanding

performers in the field.

Demetre Kostis at 132 pounds and Jacob Rutz at 220 pounds both went undefeated on Saturday; Mark Townsend went 4-1 at 120 pounds.

Alex Wetmore at 106 and Zach Tomer at 138 were the only other WHS wrestlers to post winning records on Saturday. Both of them were 3-2.

The PIoneers have moved their match with Freedom to Wednesday night because of inclement weather. That's the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference opener for both teams. The Pioneers travel to Hibriten on Friday.

The Pioneers are also looking to reschedule last week's tri-meet with Ashe County and Avery that was snowed out.
