It's been quite a journey for Freedom High boy's basketball coach Casey Rogers. His father, Terry, was a legendary coach, who won 506 games and two state titles during his career.

Well, just like the old cliche' says, "like father, like son." Casey Rogers, now in his ninth year as head coach of the Patriots, reached a huge milestone of his own last Saturday night.

Rogers picked up his 150th win as the Patriots blasted West Mecklenburg 71-49 in the finals of the Burke County Christmas Tournament. Rogers, coaching at his alma mater, is the first to reach that number faster than any coach in school history.

Rogers, who played at Western Carolina University, was a member of Freedom's state title team his senior year in 1997-98. The Patriots defeated Pine Forest 74-59 that season. Rogers was also named the game's Most Valuable Player.

He replaced Joey Davis as Patriots head coach in 2005-06.
