The Watauga High boy's and girl's indoor track teams competed in their second meet of the season at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. North Stokes was the host school.
The WHS girls were led by Alison Seramur, who captured her second victory of the season in the girl's pole vault. Seramur, a senior, also set a meet record as she cleared the bar with an effort of ten feet. The old mark was nine feet.
The WHS girls had four top-five finishers. Savanna Randle finished second in the 55-meter run (7.73 seconds), Grace Plyler finished third in the girl's 300-meter run (46.2), and the girl's 4x800-meter relay team finished third in 11:35.97.
The WHS boys produced 11 top-five finishes on Monday. Matthew Hall led the way with a second-place finish in the high jump (5-8) and a third place finish in the pole vault (10-0).
Matt Osborne finished second in the boy's 1,600 (4:53.43) and the Pioneers produced a second-place finish in the 4x800 relay (9:03.76). That group was three second behind Ragsdale, which won the event in 9:00.74.
Zack Pifer turned in a third-place finish in the boy's high jump (5-2), Zach Styron finished third in the boy's 55 hurdles (8.6), and Jacob Soule finished third in the 1,000 (2:51.69).
Justin Hall finished fourth in the boy's pole vault (9-6). The Pioneers go back to Winston-Salme on Saturday for the N.C. Runners Invitational. That will be their final meet before the Christmas break.
