|Mountaineers Bested By Bobcats, 27-12|

The Appalachian State University wrestling team fell to the Ohio Bobcats in its fifth dual match of the season, 27-12 on Sunday.
The Mountaineers (2-3) earned three wins on the mat. Things got started with the Mountaineer’s Nick Hall (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson) facing No. 19 Spartak Chino. At 157 pounds Chino defeated Hall by decision 12-9. The Bobcats (4-1) extended their lead at 165 pounds that saw Harrison Hightower defeat Zack Strickland (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) by decision 4-0.
The Apps got on the board at 174 pounds when Colin Hedash (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) topped Marshal Willet winning by decision 7-3. Nick Vetell (Trinity, N.C./Trinity) lost to Ryan Garringer at 184 pounds by fall. At 197 pounds, Kacee Hutchinson (Candler, N.C./Enka) saw his first action of the season, but was defeated by Phil Wellington by technical fall. Wellington was listed at No. 14 according to InterMat. The Bobcats’ Jeremy Johnson was ranked No. 11 at heavyweight according to InterMat. Johnson defeated Denzel Dejournette (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) by decision 9-5.
With the Bobcats holding a 20-3 lead, Dominic Parisi (Concord, N.C./Jay M. Robinson) picked up a first period pin against KeVon Powell at 125 pounds to tally six points and draw the Mountaineers to within 11. Chris Johnson (Hillsborough, N.C./Orange) fell at 133 pounds to Kagan Squire. At 141 pounds it was Noah Forrider defeating Acto Pifer (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) by a major decision of 15-6.
Dylan Cottrell (Spencer, W.Va./Roane County) improved to 14-1 on the season with a decision over Tywan Claxton, 6-4. Claxton came into the match ranked No. 13 according to InterMat with Cottrell right behind at No. 14.
The Mountaineers will be off until Thursday when they host both Cleveland State and NC State. The match against the Vikings is set for 5 p.m. and the dual with the Wolfpack slated for 7 p.m. Both duals will be hosted at Varsity Gym.
