Lenoir-Rhyne University's R.J. McClure has been named the first South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Week for the 2013-14 season.
McClure, a senior guard from Canton, N.C., averaged 30.5 points last week in leading L-R to a pair of league wins at home over Queens (81-77) in double overtime and Anderson (74-73) last Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
McClure also averaged 4.5 rebounds, hit 10 three-pointers and connected on all 21 free throw attempts for the week as well.
McClure finished with a career-high 32 points and hit the game-tying three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime against the Royals before leading all scorers with 29 points in the victory over the Trojans.
McClure, a preseason all-conference selection, is currently tied for the league lead in points scored (25.2 ppg) and has connected on 37-of-38 free throw attempts this year including the last 34 from the line.
