Charges have come from a pursuit from October 31st in Avery County.  In that, officers with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop of a pickup truck on Squirrel Creek Rd, the truck occupied by three persons, but as the vehicle stopped, all three occupants fled the vehicle. Officers located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the truck, according to the release, then later located and arrested 33-year old John York of Mitchell County.  York claimed the drugs in the vehicle were his, and the other two occupants were not charged in this matter, according to the Avery release.  York was set a $10,000.00 bond for the drug counts at the Avery County Jail.
