The Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team earned the top seed in Super Region II and will host an NCAA Division II Second Round Playoff game on Saturday, November 30, at Noon at Moretz Stadium.

L-R (10-1) will host the first-round winner of fourth-seeded Carson-Newman (9-2) and fifth-seeded Newberry (9-2), a pair of South Atlantic Conference schools. The Eagles and Wolves will square off next Saturday in Jefferson City, Tenn.

Lenoir-Rhyne, ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division II, defeated both Newberry (35-14) and Carson-Newman (37-3) at home this season on October 19 and November 2, respectively.

The Bears have won 10 straight games, their longest winning streak in 45 years, and earned a second straight berth to the postseason after a 50-year hiatus.

Lenoir-Rhyne has won the South Atlantic Conference Championship for three straight years including the last two league titles outright. L-R hasn't won 10 games in a single season since an 11-1 mark in 1962, when the Bears advanced to the NAIA National Championship game.

In 2012, L-R defeated Fort Valley State by a 21-6 score in the first round of the playoffs at home for its first postseason win since 1962 before falling in the second round to Carson-Newman, 38-35, on the road.

UNC Pembroke (9-1), the second seed in the region, also earned a first round bye and will play the winner of third-seeded North Alabama (8-2) and sixth-seeded Tuskegee (8-2).

The NCAA Division II National Championship game will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Ala.

Tickets are $15.00 for general admission and $10.00 for children 12 and under and students with proper identification and will be on sale beginning Monday at 11:00 a.m., in the Shuford Memorial Gymnasium lobby. PEF/Bears Club members can begin purchasing reserve tickets ($20.00) on Monday as well.
