Appalachian State University volleyball suffered a three-match loss in its last regular season match to Georgia Southern on Saturday, featuring scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-16.

The Mountaineers would score the first point of the first set before the Eagles would score five-straight to pull ahead 5-1. The teams would tie the score at 11 before Georgia Southern would take the lead for good, winning the set 25-20.

Despite the Mountaineers getting on the board first, Georgia Southern took charge, pulling ahead 17-7 in the second. The lead would be too much to overcome for the Apps as the Eagles took the second set 25-17.

The Eagles would continue to find points in the third set, taking the lead 16-5. The Mountaineers found a five-point rally, but it would not be enough as Georgia Southern won the third set 25-16.

Lauren Gray led the Mountaineers in kills with 11, while Emily Corrigan added eight on the match. Paige Brown recorded 30 assists in the loss.

Kym Coley led the Eagles offensively, tallying 10 kills. Alexandra Beecher recorded 21 digs on the afternoon, while Katalin Minnerly assisted 34 kills.

The Mountaineers were held to a .090 hitting percentage in the match as the Eagles hit .262. The teams tied in blocks, both recording six.

The Apps will return to action in the Southern Conference tournament in Greenville, S.C., beginning Nov. 22.
