Cory Morgan has stepped down after just two seasons as head boys’ soccer coach at St. Stephens High.

Morgan, who played at Hickory and Lenoir-Rhyne University, is going back to Georgia. He's been named the head boys’ soccer coach at Central Gwinett High in Lawrenceville, Ga. He had worked in Georgia before coming to St. Stephens.

He compiled a 28-14-6 record at St. Stephens, his teams reaching the Class 3A state playoffs both times. The Indians reached the third round this season before being eliminated 1-0 by Weddington.

Morgan says the main reason he’s leaving is to return to his wife, Cat, who remained in Atlanta to work and live while he coached in Catawba County.
