The Lenoir-Rhyne University Football Team has moved up four places to No. 14 in this week's AFCA NCAA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll. In addition, the

Bears remained first in the Super Region II Poll.

The AFCA is the American Football Coaches Association while the top six teams in the region earn a berth to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

The national postseason tournament will be announced on Sunday. L-R has been first in the region for three consecutive weeks.

Carson-Newman is the other South Atlantic Conference school ranked nationally this week, checking in at No. 21.
In addition to Lenoir-Rhyne (first) and Carson-Newman (fourth), Newberry (fifth) is also ranked in this week's NCAA Division II Super Region II Poll.

Super Region II consists of schools from the South Atlantic, Gulf South and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conferences in addition to independents UNC Pembroke and North Greenville.

Lenoir-Rhyne (9-1, 6-0) looks to make it 10 wins in a row this Saturday against league-rival Catawba (6-4, 3-3) in Salisbury, N.C., beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Bears have beaten the Indians four straight years.

Lenoir-Rhyne, the three-time defending South Atlantic Conference Champions (2011-13), haven't won 10 games in a row since a stretch over the 1967 and 1968 seasons.

L-R is also looking to earn a berth to the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the second straight season after a 50-year hiatus from the postseason.
