The Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team (9-1) celebrated Senior Day in fine fashion with a 62-24 victory over Alderson Broaddus (4-5) Saturday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.
L-R junior fullback Isaiah Whitaker (Salisbury, N.C.) rushed for three first-half touchdowns while senior defensive back Michael Green (Kingsland, Ga.) returned two

interceptions for scores after halftime in the victory.

Lenoir-Rhyne, ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division II and first in this week's Super Region II Poll, rushed for 442 yards on the day and scored its most points in a game since a 69-14 triumph over Davidson in 1975. The Bears have also won nine contests in a row.

Alderson Broaddus actually held the advantage in total offense over L-R by a 452-446 margin and trailed by a just 28-17 score at halftime but was done in by three second-half interceptions. The Battlers are in their first season as an intercollegiate program.

L-R turned the contest into a rout in the third quarter beginning with sophomore quarterback Teverrius Jones' (Washington, Ga.) 70-yard touchdown run before Green returned interceptions for scores on back-to-back possessions later in the stanza to seal the win.

Jones finished with a team-high 110 yards rushing while senior halfback Graham Duncan (Gainesville, Ga.) and Whitaker added 71 and 67 yards rushing, respectively, for the Bears as well.

For the Battlers, running back Brandon Jones (Williamsburg, Va.) finished with a game-high 154 yards on the ground while Chase Gallagher (Tucson, Ariz.) added 18 tackles despite the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne, who has clinched its third straight South Atlantic Conference Championship, will travel to Salisbury, N.C., to take on Catawba in the regular season finale next Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. Alderson Broaddus hosts Cumberland on Saturday at Noon in its last game of the season.
