Nicole Tesh, who graduated from Watauga High School in 2010, continued her athletic career at Emory & Henry College, a Division III school in Emory, Va.
And like she did when she played at WHS, Tesh came through with flying colors. Tesh, a senior at E&H, finished the 2013 volleyball season with a school record 969 kills. Tesh set the standard at WHS with a school record 724.
Tesh was also an outstanding basketball player for the Pioneers during her prep days, and she had an opportunity to keep playing at E&H.
"But it's just a little too much for me," Tesh said in an interview with Curtis Media Group in 2010. "I really enjoyed playing both (volleyball and basketball) at Watauga, but I'm just going to concentrate on volleyball in college."
Tesh poured in a career-high 29 points in an upset win against Hickory in January 2010 at the old Lentz-Eggers Gym. During her prep career at WHS in volleyball, Tesh led the Pioneers to 95 wins (95-18), which includes a 26-4 record her senior year.
