Appalachian State University football has been ranked sixth nationally among all NCAA Division I FCS programs by the Association for the Protection of Collegiate Athletes (APCA). The APCA rankings compare

programs’ athletic success, academic progress and treatment of student-athletes.

All 122 football programs that participated in Division I FCS in 2012 were included in the APCA rankings. Appalachian State’s No. 6 ranking is the second-highest in the Southern Conference behind only No. 3 Wofford and only one other SoCon program (No. 17 Georgia Southern) ranks among the nation’s top 50. Additionally, Appalachian’s .4635 score is tops among all 11 programs that will be members of the Sun Belt Conference beginning in 2014.

The APCA is a non-profit organization with a goal of helping create a more transparent, informed and safe environment for all student-athletes that participate in collegiate sports. For more information on their organization and rankings, visit
