Three L-R Players Garner Academic All-District Honors PDF Print

Three members of the Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team - seniors Graham Duncan and Parker Murray and junior Joe Anderson - were named to the 2013 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District II Team

today. All three L-R players earned academic all-district honors for the second consecutive season.



Duncan, a running back from Gainesville, Ga., is fourth on the team in rushing this season with 434 yards and a score while averaging 8.7 yards per carry. Duncan has totaled 1,074 career yards on the ground with five touchdowns and carries a 3.42 grade point average while majoring in accounting.


Murray, a center from Ninety Six, S.C., anchors an offensive line which has helped the Bears rank second in the nation in rushing this season (362.1 ypg). Murray, a religious studies major with a 3.50 grade point average, earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors last season. L-R finished third in the nation in rushing (376.2 ypg) in 2012.


Anderson, a defensive back from Lilburn, Ga., is tied for third on the team in tackles this season with 52 to go along with a sack and an interception. In two years as a cornerback with Lenoir-Rhyne, Anderson has totaled 110 takedowns and three interceptions. Anderson is an economics major with a 3.70 grade point average.


All three players have led Lenoir-Rhyne to three straight SAC Championships (2011-13) and the team's first playoff berth and postseason victory last fall.


This year, Lenoir-Rhyne is 8-1 on the year including a 6-0 mark in the South Atlantic Conference while riding an eight-game winning streak. L-R hosts Alderson Broaddus (4-4) on Saturday on Senior Day beginning at Noon at Moretz Stadium.


The Capital One Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures, assisting CoSIDA with the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2013-14 DII Academic All-America® teams program.


In football, District II includes schools from the South Atlantic Conference, the Gulf South Conference, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and independents UNC Pembroke and North Greenville.
