LENOIR (WJRI) A Lenoir man was stabbed this week and police are looking for the suspect. Police reports state that a 30-year-old man was stabbed multiple times at a residence on Penly Court by an unknown offender. The victim suffered severe lacerations. Anyone with information should contact Lenoir Police.
LENOIR (WJRI) Lenoir Police are investigating the breaking and entering into the Lenoir Aquatic Center. The break in occurred on Tuesday night when someone broke a window to gain access to the building. Once inside they damaged a safe and a cash register causing more than $2,000 worth of damage. HICKORY (WKVS) A 38-year-old man from Hickory who is a registered sex offender was arrested after he went into a facility where children were. Michael Lloyd Baker was taken into custody Tuesday at his residence after he went into a gymnastics facility. Baker is said to have went into the facility stating that he wanted to get more details on the gymnastics center. He was jailed under a $20,000 bond. Baker was first convicted in 1995 for indecent liberties with a child.
MORGANTON (WKVS) The City Council in Morganton now has a new set of rules for public comments at their meetings. The Morganton News Herald reports that each comment period will be held to 3 minutes and the public comment period will be 30 minutes long. The start of Morganton City Council meetings will now be at 5:30 to allot for the new rules.
HICKORY (WKVS) Police in Hickory are looking for whoever stole 7 handheld radios from a vehicle that was parked at a local restaurant. The radios belong to Burke County and were taken from a county vehicle that parked at the Mellow Mushroom around 10:25 Tuesday night. The radios are valued at around $3,000 each. Other items valued at around $2,000 were also taken. Anyone with information about the theft should call Hickory Police at 828-328-5551.
MORGANTON (WKVS) A missing elderly woman from Burke County was found safe in Tennessee Tuesday night. 85-year-old Lois McCall-Walsh was found safe in Bristol Tennessee. The Burke County Sheriffs Department had issued a Silver Alert after the woman went missing.
NEWTON (WKVS) An accident in Newton yesterday morning sent two men to the hospital. The accident occurred at Highway 16 and Burris Road yesterday morning. Firefighters had to cut the roof off of the vehicle to get to two men trapped inside. Both men were flown to a hospital in Charlotte. The accident occurred when the mens vehicle was struck by a tanker truck. The investigation is ongoing but charges are not expected to be filed.
