Wofford topped Furman 2-0 Saturday night to claim the Southern Conference regular-season title outright and nab the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SoCon Men’s Soccer Championship.

The event begins Saturday, Nov. 9, with seeds 2-4 hosting first-round matches. The semifinals and championship will be played at Furman’s Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C., on Nov. 15 and 17, respectively.

With the No. 1 seed, the Terriers (5-1-0 SoCon) earn a first-round bye and will await their opponents in the semifinals.

Elon edged UNCG 4-3 Saturday to move to 4-2-0 in the SoCon and jump the Spartans for the No. 2 seed. UNCG finished the regular season 3-2-1 in league play and will be the No. 3 seed.

The Phoenix, the defending tournament champion, will host seventh-seeded Appalachian State, which fell 2-1 to Davidson in overtime Friday night and finished 1-4-1 in league play. Elon and the Mountaineers will square off at 7 p.m. Nov. 9.

Also at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9, UNCG will host sixth-seeded Georgia Southern. The Eagles concluded SoCon play Tuesday with a 2-1, overtime win over Furman to wrap up their conference slate at 2-4-0.

Nationally ranked Furman finished SoCon at 2-2-2 and will host fifth-seeded Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. The Wildcats finished 2-4-0 in the league but held the tiebreaker over Georgia Southern by virtue of their head-to-head win to secure the No. 5 seed.

The tournament winner earns the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship.
