|Washington Named Student-Athlete of Week|

Tony Washington, a wide receiver on the Appalachian State football team, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 30, the league office announced
Washington, a senior from High Point, N.C., currently holds a 3.80 GPA while majoring in architectural design. He was also named Appalachian State’s Most Outstanding Architectural Design Student in 2012-13 and was a member of the Dean’s List and the Appalachian State and SoCon honor rolls.
Washington caught five passes for a career-high 129 yards and a touchdown in Appalachian State’s 38-14 victory over Georgia Southern on Saturday. His 129-yard performance was the second-most by a Mountaineer and the sixth-highest total in the SoCon in 2013. Washington currently ranks second in the conference in receiving yards at 589 and is third in receptions with 43.
Also nominated for student-athlete of the week were Georgia Southern volleyball player Kym Coley and Western Carolina women’s soccer player Kelly Pannell.
