|Crusaders Drop Bobcats In Four Sets|

The North Greenville University women's volleyball team withstood a second-set surge by Lees-McRae College and a match-high 19 kills by Avalon Liscio (Naples, Fla.) en route to a 3-1 victory in Conference
Carolinas play on Wednesday evening in Williams Gymnasium.
North Greenville (6-23, 4-10 CC) won the match by scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-14, and 25-12, posting 39 kills and 39 digs in the contest while holding Lees-McRae (2-24, 0-13 CC) to 36 digs and 30 smashes. The Bobcats tallied nine blocks and seven aces on the night.
Liscio led the way for the Bobcats with 19 kills and eight digs, as Angela Morse (Greenville, S.C.) and Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) added six and three blocks, respectively. Morse and Curry each posted four kills, while Molly Corhn (Hendersonville, N.C.) tallied 29 assists, six digs, and a match-high two service aces.
Rachel Burts paced the Crusaders with 13 kills and a .450 hitting percentage, as Yomi Adeyeye added nine smashes and three block assists. Codiann Amis tallied a match-high 14 digs, while Elizabeth James posted 32 assists.
North Greenville jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first set before the Bobcats responded, taking a 12-11 lead on a Liscio smash to cap an 11-6 run. The Crusaders would answer with a 10-4 spurt, claiming a 21-16 advantage before closing out the set with an ace from Gabby Sehres.
The Bobcats fought back in the second, rallying from a 17-14 deficit with a 7-3 run to open a narrow 21-20 advantage following a solo stuff by Liscio. Lees-McRae would cap the set from there, evening the match at 1-1 on a Liscio smash.
North Greenville responded in the third set, opening the frame with an 8-4 run before pushing the advantage to 16-6 following a trio of kills from Burts. The Crusaders continued to dictate play over the remainder of the set, holding off a late push by the Bobcats to claim a 2-1 lead in the match on a smash by Taylor Dupes.
Burts and the Crusaders carried the momentum into the fourth, launching a 12-3 run to open the set that was capped by a Sehres ace. North Greenville would hold on from there, pushing the margin to 17-6 on a Burts smash before capping the set and the match with a kill from Adeyeye.
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Friday, November 1 when the Bobcats travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Converse College in league play at 7 p.m.
