The Watauga Middle School football team closed out the season with 28-0 win against East McDowell at Jack Groce Stadium on Monday.
And it was well over due. Isaiah Finger led the way for the Wolverines (3-5) as he scored twice on runs of 47-and 11-yards. Joey Watson had a 53-yard touchdown run, and Dale Holman scored on a 50-yard scamper. Braxton Moffett threw a two-point conversion pass to Jamie Gough and he also ran for a two-point conversion.

Bryant Hou recovered a fumble; Dustin Canter and Alex McConnel anchored Watuaga's offensive line.

"It was a good way for the kids to go out," Watauga coach Dale Allred said. "They're young, and they're learning. We had a lot of fun. The kids played hard all year. I'm very proud of their effort."
