With six victories in a row, the Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team moved back into the national rankings for the first time since the preseason. L-R is ranked No. 24 in this

week's AFCA NCAA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll. The AFCA is the American Football Coaches Association.

Lenoir-Rhyne (6-1, 4-0) is coming off a 35-14 South Atlantic Conference victory over previously unbeaten Newberry (6-1, 4-1) last Saturday at Moretz Stadium. The Wolves were ranked No. 23 nationally at the time.

L-R is now alone atop the league standings and is off to its best start since 1994, when the Bears also started the year at 6-1. Lenoir-Rhyne looks to make it seven wins in a row when it travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill (2-5, 0-3) on Saturday.

Kickoff at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m. The Bears have not started 7-1 on the year since 1967. Carson-Newman (6-1, 3-1) is the only other South Atlantic Conference school nationally ranked, coming in at No. 18 this week. Newberry is receiving votes.
