|Bears Volleyball Wins At Catawba|

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (11-5, 8-4) earned a 3-1 victory on the road against Catawba (3-11, 3-9) Friday evening in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Goodman Gymnasium. The Bears defeated the Indians by scores of 25-16, 17-25, 25-20 and 25-20.
L-R junior outside hitter Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) led the way with a match-high 20 kills to go along with 10 digs while sophomore setter Briana Gottberg (Mooresville, N.C.) added 46 assists and 11 digs in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore outside hitter Morgan Bunker (Mount Airy, N.C.) was the third player to tally a double-double on the night for the Bears, finishing with 10 kills and 12 digs in the win.
L-R also swept the season series from the Indians and defeated Catawba on the road for the first time since the 2005 season. The Bears finished with 10 service aces on the night as well.
Catawba was led by Rachel Gallup (Fredericksburg, Va.) with a team-high 12 kills and Kaytee Frabotta (Sterling Heights, Mich.) with 36 assists and 12 digs despite the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to host Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference match on Monday night in Shuford Memorial Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m. Catawba hosts Brevard on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
