Huskies Win Fourth Straight PDF Print

Head coach Brian Hampton has the Ashe County High football team on pace to win its first Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference championship. The Huskies (5-3 overall; 4-0 MVC) chalked up their fourth win in a row Friday night by overpowering winless East Wilkes 39-14 in Rhonda, N.C.


Johnathan Cox scored three touchdowns on the ground and Connor Bowers threw two TD passes to backboned the Huskies offensively. give Ashe a 39-14 win at East Wilkes. The Huskies find themselves in a two-way tie for first place with North Wilkes, who they play next week on the road.

The Vikings (7-1; 4-0) defeated Starmount in a first-place battle 13-10 Friday night in Boonville, N.C. The Vikings have won five straight. The Huskies won back-to-back MVC titles under Bill Strong in 2006 and 2007.
