The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (9-2-1) made it seven consecutive wins after rallying to defeat UNC Pembroke (6-7), 3-2, Wednesday evening at Varsity Grounds.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman midfielder Miranda Simon (Burlington, N.C.) scored the match-winning goal in the 60th minute as the Bears rallied from a 2-1 deficit at halftime to take the victory.

Sophomore midfielder Emmi Dunn (Reading, Pa.), the reigning SAC Women's Soccer Player Of The Week, opened the scoring for the Bears at the 7:09 mark of the first half. Dunn has five goals on the season, all in the last three matches for Lenoir-Rhyne.

UNC Pembroke came back with a pair of scores by Rae-Shawna Campbell (Wilmington, N.C.) and Amber Watkins (Kannapolis, N.C.) for a 2-1 advantage entering intermission.

Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore midfielder Kendall Smith (Asheville, N.C.) tied the contest at two with a breakaway goal in the 55th minute before Simon's game-winner.

Simon headed the ball into the upper left corner of the net off a cross. Both sophomore defender Brianna Belsky (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Casey Marlin (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) were credited with the assist for Lenoir-Rhyne.

Junior goalkeeper Genny Little (Fredericksburg, Va.) improved to 8-0 on the year after picking up the win for the Bears, who held a 21-7 edge in shots taken in the contest. Lenoir-Rhyne is also ranked fourth in the latest NSCAA NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll.

UNC Pembroke's Claire Tracy (Rhinelander, Wis.) stopped three shots but took the loss for the Lady Braves.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face Tusculum in a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex beginning at 5:00 p.m. UNC Pembroke plays at North Georgia on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., as well.
