The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team is listed among the top teams in the nation in six individual and team categories, announced NCAA officials Tuesday with the release of the weekly national
statistics ranking summary.
Lees-McRae (6-4-1, 4-1 Conference Carolinas) has been on a tremendous run of form over the last eight matches, posting a 6-1-1 record in that span to move into second place in the conference standings. The Bobcats enter a pivotal week in their schedule ranked 11th in the nation in shutout percentage (0.55) and 16th in team goals against average (0.71). Lees-McRae also ranks 58th in save percentage (0.784).
Senior goalkeeper Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, England) is in the midst of perhaps the best season of his career, keeping six clean sheets to move into fourth on the program's all-time list with 20 career shutouts. The 6-1, 185-pound netminder enters the week ranked 22nd in the nation in goals against average (0.706) and 59th in save percentage (0.784), having allowed just two goals in his last eight matches.
Freshman Jordan Wright (West Lothian, Scotland) also ranks among the nation's leaders, entering the week listed 60th in points per match (1.50) and 63rd in both total points (15) and total goals (six). The rookie forward is also listed 64th in goals per match (0.6).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Bobcats host Erskine College in conference play at 7 p.m. on Tate Field.
