A correction concerning today's tennis match between Watauga and Asheville-Roberson. It was reported yesterday that the WHS girl's tennis team (10-3), the No.1 seed from the Northwestern 3A/4A

Conference, would play a home game in t opening-round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 4A state dual team playoffs.

But upon further review, the game will be played in Asheville based on percentage of wins, according to WHS coach Beth Watts. The Rams (12-3), who lost to WHS in Boone on August 28, are the No.1 seed from the Mountain Athletic 3A/4A Conference and they won 80% of their matches. WHS won 76%. Today's match begins at 4 p.m. We apologize for the scheduling error.

The winner of today's match will play either Greensboro-Grimsley, the No.2 seed from the Metro 4A Conference, or Ardrey Kell, the No.1 seed from the South Mecklenburg 8 Conference, in the second round next Tuesday, October 22.

If the Pioneers win and Grimsley defeats Ardrey Kell, the Pioneers would host that match. Meredith Smith (in singles play), Meghan Smith and Kelsi Kanoy (in doubles) will compete in the NCHSAA Class 4A Western Regional at Cornelius-Hough on Friday and Saturday. The top four finishers in singles and doubles play advance to the state tournament next weekend, October 25-26.
