Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Shuts Out Anderson, 2-0


The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (8-2-1, 5-0-1) won its sixth consecutive match Saturday afternoon in a 2-0 shutout victory over Anderson (2-6-4, 1-2-4) at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.

Sophomore midfielder Emmi Dunn (Reading, Pa.) and sophomore forward Leah Mullins (Kissimmee, Fla.) each scored for the Bears, who improved to 25-0-1 in their last 26 South Atlantic Conference regular season matches.

Dunn scored at the 36:45 mark of the first half off a corner kick from sophomore defender Lizzie McNamara (Naples, Fla.), who was credited with the assist.

Mullins finished off a shot by freshman midfielder Miranda Simon (Burlington, N.C.) which hit the crossbar in the 65th minute of action. Mullins is tied for the team lead in goals with six.

L-R junior goalkeeper Genny Little (Fredericksburg, Va.) improved to 7-0 on the year and notched her second straight shutout win. The Bears also held a 22-9 advantage in shots taken on the day.

Anderson's Kaitlyn Nepp (Anderson, S.C.) suffered the loss in goal despite tallying 10 saves in the match. The Trojans remained without a victory in their last six contests as well.

Lenoir-Rhyne faces UNC Pembroke in a non-conference match on the road Wednesday evening in Pembroke, N.C., beginning at 7:00 p.m. Anderson next hosts Emmanuel on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.


Lenoir-Rhyne Battles Anderson To A 1-1 Tie In Men's Soccer



Lenoir-Rhyne (6-5-1, 2-3-1) and Anderson (8-2-2, 4-2-1) played to a 1-1 tie after two overtimes in a South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer match Saturday evening at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.

L-R junior midfielder Ben Jones (Dagenham, ENGLAND) got the Bears on the scoreboard first with his team-leading seventh goal of the year.

In the 10th minute, Jones took a cross from junior defender Tom Holland (Bolton, ENGLAND) for the score. Holland was credited with the assist.

Lars Zimmerman tied the score at one for Anderson with a goal at the 27:13 mark of the first half. Zimmerman finished off a long throw from William Treichler (Lexington, N.C.).

No one scored again as the contest remained 1-1 after 110 minutes of action.

L-R senior goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) finished with four saves while Anderson's goalkeeper, Bo Haug (Stuttgart, GERMANY), stopped two shots in the match.

Anderson, 4-0-1 in its last five matches, also held a 15-12 advantage in shots taken in the tie.

Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts Mount Olive on Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m., while Anderson returns home to face UNC Pembroke on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
