|Liscio Keys Bobcats In Homecoming Win|

Freshman Avalon Liscio (Naples, Fla.) posted a match-high 16 kills to lead the Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team to a straight-set sweep of visiting Chowan University during Homecoming
Weekend on Saturday afternoon.
Lees-McRae (2-17) won the match by scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-17, attacking at a .299 clip in the contest while holding Chowan (10-2) to a hitting percentage of .049. The Bobcats combined for 45 digs, 36 kills and eight service aces on the afternoon, limiting the Hawks to 38 digs and 27 smashes.
Liscio led the way for the Bobcats with perhaps her best performance of the season, recording 16 kills and a .483 hitting percentage as Candace Niemiec (Huntington Beach, Calif.) added a double-double with 10 digs and a match-high 31 assists.
Molly Corhn (Hendersonville, N.C.) posted a team-high 11 digs, while Haydn Beatty (Norman, Okla.) and Angela Morse (Clinton Township, Mich.) chipped in eight and six smashes, respectively. Liscio and Corhn both tallied a match-high three service aces.
Suraya Chase led the way for Chowan with eight kills, as Briana Smith added six smashes and three aces. Allison Smith posted out 23 assists and three aces, while Cindy Ehrich tallied a match-high 13 digs.
Lees-McRae jumped out to an early 7-4 lead in the first set before the Hawks countered with back-to-back points, cutting the margin to 7-6 on an ace from Allison Smith. The Bobcats quickly answered with a 6-1 spurt, pushing the advantage to 13-7 following an emphatic block by Beatty and Haylee Leonard (Wallburg, N.C.). Chowan responded once again, closing the gap to 20-19 with a 12-7 run before Lees-McRae answered the call with five of the next seven points, seizing a 1-0 lead in the match following a smash from Beatty.
The Hawks fought back in the second set, rallying from an early 8-6 deficit with a 7-3 run, claiming a 13-11 advantage on an ace by Ehrich. Chowan would push the lead to 17-14 before the Bobcats responded with a 9-4 spurt, opening a 23-11 lead following a Beatty smash. Niemiec and Beatty then capped the set with back-to-back kills, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 advantage in the match.
The Bobcats carried the momentum into the third, opening the set with an 11-3 surge that was highlighted by a textbook block from Leonard and Beatty. Chowan countered with a 7-1 run, cutting the margin to 12-10 after a kill by Allison Smith. The Bobcats answered right back with an 11-5 spurt, stretching the lead to 23-15 on a block by Banta and Morse, before capping the set and the match following an emphatic smash from Leonard.
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Wednesday when the Bobcats resume their Conference Carolinas schedule with a 7 p.m. matchup against Converse College in Williams Gymnasium.
