The Carson-Newman Men's Soccer Team (5-3, 2-2) shut out Lenoir-Rhyne (6-4, 2-2), 3-0, in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday evening at McCown Field.
The Eagles' Ross Frame (Welshpool, Powys, UNITED KINGDOM) scored two second-half goals to help hand the Bears their third loss in the their last four outings.
Carson-Newman opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Kristian Speake (Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, UNITED KINGDOM) took advantage of a missed clear by the Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper.
Frame rounded out the scoring with two goals after intermission including a header off a corner kick by Sindre Welo (Trondheim, NORWAY) for the third score at the 73:41 mark of the contest.
Rumwald Le Guevel (Vannes, FRANCE) earned the shutout win in goal, his first of the season. Le Guevel made one save on the night.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) was tagged with the loss. Dill was credited with two saves for the Bears, who came up on the short end in shots taken by a 13-5 margin as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to host Mars Hill on Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m., in a South Atlantic Conference match. Carson-Newman faces Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday in Harrogate, Tenn., at 3:30 p.m.
