The Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team (4-1, 3-0) made it four victories in a row with a 41-0 shutout win on Homecoming over Brevard (1-4, 0-2) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at

Moretz Stadium.

Lenoir-Rhyne finished with 522 yards of total offense including 350 on the ground while limiting Brevard to just 83 yards in the triumph.

L-R junior quarterback Miles Freeman (Sacramento, Calif.) totaled 268 yards of total offense and four scores as the Bears remained unbeaten in league play.

In the second quarter, Freeman threw a 73-yard touchdown reception to junior halfback Jarrod Spears (Bunnlevel, N.C.) before running for a five-yard score as the Bears rolled to a 20-0 halftime advantage.

Freeman added a 10-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Greyson Wells (West Jefferson, N.C.) and a 31-yard touchdown run in the third quarter as L-R turned the contest into a rout.

Freeman's day included a team-high 96 yards rushing and 172 yards through the air while Spears added 134 yards (60 yards on the ground and 74 yards receiving) as Lenoir-Rhyne improved to 4-1 for the first time since the 1999 campaign.

On defense, Lenoir-Rhyne finished with five quarterback sacks and was led by junior linebacker Tanner Botts (Lawrenceville, Ga.) with eight tackles and a forced fumble.

Lenoir-Rhyne also pitched its first shutout since 2009 - a 42-0 victory on the road against Davidson - and held its opponent without a point at home for the first time since a 24-0 victory over Jacksonville in 2003.

Brevard's Michael Gruber (Walterboro, S.C.), the team's leading tackler, finished with 13 takedowns in the losing effort.

Lenoir-Rhyne hits the road to face North Greenville in Tigerville, S.C., in a non-conference game next Saturday in Tigerville, S.C. Brevard hosts Mars Hill in a league contest Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
