The Barton Men's Soccer Team (2-5-1) scored a 3-2 double overtime upset victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (6-3) Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference, regional match at the Moretz Sports - Athletic

Complex.

The Bulldogs' Archer Bane (Greenville, N.C.) scored twice including the match-winning goal at the 102:32 mark of the second overtime to lift Barton to the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne received goals from sophomore forward Mattias Thompson (Lahaina, Hawaii) and junior midfielder Ben Jones (Dagenham, ENGLAND) in the second half as the Bears rallied from a 2-0 deficit at halftime to force the extra sessions.

Jones' goal, his team-leading sixth of the season, was headed into the net in the 71st minute off a long service from junior midfielder Daniel Delderfield (Milton Keynes, ENGLAND).

Dante De Luca (Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL) was credited with all three assists while Vasily Yakimkin (Astrakhan, RUSSIA) earned the win in goal for the Bulldogs. Yakimkin stopped 11 shots on the day.

Senior goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) made eight saves despite the loss for the Bears, who held a 39-16 advantage in shots taken and came into the match ranked eighth in the latest NCSCAA Division II Southeast Regional rankings.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns to South Atlantic Conference play when the Bears travel to Jefferson City, Tenn., to face Carson-Newman on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Barton, meanwhile, plays Lees-McRae on Saturday in Banner Elk, N.C., beginning at 4:00 p.m.
