Seven former Appalachian State University football standouts are currently on active National Football League rosters. Here is a look at how the former Mountaineers fared in Week 3 action:
Detroit Lions rookie punter/kicker and reigning NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Sam Martin averaged 50 yards over three punts, including one pinned inside the 20 and a game-long of 57 yards, in the Lions' 40-32 win over Chicago. Martin also kicked off nine times with three touchbacks.
St. Louis Rams' second-year wide receiver Brian Quick was targeted two times and had a 12-yard reception in the Rams' 35-11 loss to Dallas. Jacksonville Jaguars rookie defensive back Demetrius McCray saw action but did not record any statistics in the Jaguars' 37-3 loss to Indianapolis.
New Orleans Saints second-year running back Travaris Cadet saw action but did not record any statistics in the Saints' 38-7 win over Miami.
San Francisco 49ers third-year offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore saw action along the offensive front in the 49ers' 35-11 win at St. Louis.
Oakland Raiders eighth-year defensive end Jason Hunter (quad) was not active for the Raiders' 24-14 loss to Washington.
Carolina Panthers fourth-year wide receiver Armanti Edwards was on a bye-week during week four.
In all, 10 former Mountaineers are currently on NFL rosters. In addition to the seven members of active 53-man rosters, second-year defensive back DeAndre Presley is a member of the Carolina Panthers practice squad, rookie running back Steven Miller is on the Detroit Lions' practice squad and rookie linebacker Jeremy Kimbrough will spend the campaign on the Washington Redskins' injured-reserve list after sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury during the preseason.
