Lees-McRae College freshman Jordan Wright (West Lothian, Scotland) and senior Heather Peterman (Buford, Ga.) have been named the Male and Female
Student-Athletes of the Month for September 2013, announced College officials Tuesday.
Wright hit the ground running in his first month of collegiate soccer, leading the team with four goals and three assists as the Bobcats enter the month of October riding a four-match winning streak. A native of West Lothian, Scotland, Wright has tallied at least one point in each of his last five matches, including an active three-match goal-scoring streak. Wright opened his collegiate account in a big way against Belmont Abbey last weekend, netting a pair of goals to lead the Bobcats to a resounding 4-0 victory.
Peterman has enjoyed a strong start to her senior season with the women’s cross country team, pacing the Bobcats in each of their three meets thus far. A native of Buford, Ga., Peterman posted her top performance of the campaign at the Buffalo Valley Stampede on September 6 with a time of 25:29. Peterman recorded her highest finish of the season this past weekend, placing 37th at the UNC Charlotte Invitational.
