LENOIR (WJRI) Lenoir Police are investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday. Police were called to a residence on Broadway Street yesterday morning but later found a man at Caldwell Memorial Hospital who was shot in the leg. Authorities say the injuries were not life threatening and a suspect is not listed in the reports. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Lenoir Police at 828-757-2100.

HICKORY (WKVS) Another restaurant was robbed in Hickory by the same man who authorities believe have robbed 4 others. The Waffle House on Fairgrove Church Road was robbed yesterday morning around 2:30. A white male, carrying a handgun entered the restaurant and took an undisclosed amount of money. Authorities believe it was the same man who tried to rob the Pancho Villa Mexican Restaurant on 16th St. NE Sunday night around 9:15. The man left the location before he got any money. The suspect is described as a white male between 58 and 6 feet tall weighing around 150 pounds. If you have information on this suspect, contact Hickory Police at 828-328-5551.

MARION (WKVS) A Newton man has been arrested for indecent liberties with a child in Marion. The McDowell County Sheriffs Department arrested 28-year-old Christopher Scott Thomas last Friday on charges that he talked with a 14-year-old girl on facebook for several weeks and then had inappropriate contact with that girl on one occasion. Thomas was charged with four felony counts of indecent liberties with a child and three counts of soliciting a child on the internet. His bond was set at $50,000.

CONNELLY SPRINGS (WKVS) The names of the two children killed in a house fire last week in Connelly Springs have been released. 11-year-old Xander Blake Hudson and his 6-year-old sister Piper Jean Hudson both died last Thursday morning from smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still yet to be determined.

NEWTON (WKVS) A 16-year-old aviation school student and his instructor had to make an emergency landing yesterday in Newton. The plane was set down on the side of the road on Highway 10 in Newton yesterday afternoon. The student, who was on his first lesson with the instructor, had to give control to the teacher when they began to experience mechanical issues. The plane was not damaged and neither the student or the instructor were injured.

CHAPEL HILL (WKVS) Burke County School Administrator Rexanna Lowman has been honored by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association with the Region 7 Charlie Adams Award for Distinguished Service. Lowman works in the Central Office in Burke County but was previously the principal at East Burke High School. She recently completed a four year term on the board of directors where she is said to have assisted the board with working through several difficult matters.
