The Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team (3-1, 2-0) won its third consecutive game with a 24-10 road victory over Tusculum (2-2, 0-1) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at Pioneer Field. L-R junior quarterback Miles Freeman (Sacramento, Calif.) rushed for a game-high 122 yards, passed for 92 more yards and threw and ran for a touchdown to lead the Bears to the win.

On defense, Lenoir-Rhyne registered seven quarterback sacks for the second straight week and limited Tusculum to just 10 points on the day. The Pioneers came into the contest averaging 51 points per outing.

After surrendering a field goal, Lenoir-Rhyne responded with back-to-back touchdowns on consecutive drives en route to a 14-3 advantage entering intermission.

Junior tailback Jarrod Spears (Bunnlevel, N.C.) scored on a three-yard touchdown run before sophomore wide receiver Greyson Wells (West Jefferson, N.C.) caught an 11-yard touchdown reception in the first half for the Bears.

Tusculum cut the lead to seven points when quarterback Bo Cordell (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored from a yard out with 13:17 remaining in the contest but couldn't get any closer.

Freeman put the game away with a 14-yard touchdown run at the 5:10 mark of the fourth quarter and the Bears improved to 3-1 on the season for the first time since the 2010 campaign.

L-R senior defensive back Myer Nolan (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with a team-high 13 tackles while junior defensive lineman Blake Baker (Bethlehem, N.C.) tallied two-and-a-half quarterback sacks.

Cordell finished with 288 yards through the air while Justin Houston caught a game-high 14 passes for 125 yards but Tusculum suffered its second consecutive defeat. The Pioneers' Dustin Lane (Lithonia, Ga.) led all tacklers with 15.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns to Moretz Stadium to face Brevard on Homecoming in a South Atlantic Conference game next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Tusculum hosts league-foe Catawba on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
