Appalachian State University field hockey fell in a 3-1 match on Saturday against NorPac opponent Radford. The Mountaineers fell to 1-2 in the NorPac conference as
Radford came out strong, scoring in the first five minutes of the match off a goal by Sydney Myrdal.
The Highlanders quickly struck again, scoring another goal off the stick of Stacey Mackintosh who sent the ball bounching over the keeper's head from an assist by Meghan Smiga.
Appalachian finally found the net at the 36:26 minute mark when junior Jessi Stuart dribbled the ball in from the right sideline and was able to cross it to wide open freshman Casten Farr for the goal, making the score 2-1 at halftime. Farr's goal is the first of her career at App State.
The teams went head to head in the second half with no scoring until the 54th minute of the match when Radford's Smiga found a goal to pull the Highlanders ahead for good, making the final score 3-1.
