|Newberry Volleyball Rallies To Defeat L-R|

The Newberry Volleyball Team (9-2, 4-2) came back from a one-set deficit to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne (6-3, 3-2), 3-2, in a South Atlantic Conference match Friday night at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The Wolves rallied to defeat the Bears by scores of 25-27, 25-19, 14-25, 25-20 and 15-11.
Newberry, winners of two straight, was led by Samantha Parrish (Angola, Ind.) with a match-high 22 kills and 19 digs while Chelsea Mayor (Sugar Land, Texas) added 52 assists in the victory.
L-R junior outside hitter Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) finished with a team-high 21 kills while sophomore setter Briana Gottberg (Mooresville, N.C.) tallied a double-double - 48 assists and 14 digs - but the Bears lost for the first time in five tries at home this season.
Jessica King (Los Angeles, Calif.) chipped in with 12 kills for Newberry, who won the fourth and fifth sets in downing Lenoir-Rhyne for the third straight time.
Lenoir-Rhyne does not play again until Thursday when it visits No. 14 Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m., in Wingate, N.C. Newberry hosts league-foe Mars Hill on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
