The University of North Carolina announced Thursday afternoon that senior P.J. Hairston, who was indefinitely suspended earlier this summer for off-court issues, will be with the team when practice
officially begins on Friday.
Head coach Roy Williams, who was not at all pleased with Hairston‘s off-season problems, including links to a convicted felon, marijuana possession, a reckless driving citation and a speeding ticket, says Hairston is expected to miss some games at the start of the season as punishment. But the length of the suspension has not yet been determined or announced at this time.
The Tars Heels have a demanding schedule to start the season. UNC will most likely take on Louisville at the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic on Sunday, November 24. After that, the Tar Heels travel to Michigan State on Wednesday, December 4, and they return home to play Kentucky on Saturday, December 14. Hairston was UNC's leading scorer last season. He averaged 14.6 points a game.
