WHS JV Team Downs Indians PDF Print

The Watauga High junior varsity football team won its Northwestern 3A/4A Conference opener Thursday night by knocking off St. Stephens 13-8 in Hickory.

 

The WHS (3-1 overally; 1-0 NW3A/4A Conference) defense made a stand in the red zone with 90 seconds left to play to preserve the win. That effort also kept the Indians (0-4; 0-1) also winless on the season. Evan Suggs scored on a 68-yard touchdown run for WHS' first points of the game; Corey West rambled in from 16-yards away. Chase Palm kicked an extra point.

The win also moves WHS into a first-place tie in the NW3A/4A Conference. The Pioneers return home to play Fred T. Foard next Thursday night at 7 p.m.
