The Bobcats responded with a 4-2 spurt, trimming the margin to 21-14 with a kill from Haylee Leonard (Walburg, N.C.). Lander claimed four of the next seven points to take the set and a 2-0 lead in the match following a Julia Ferreira-Alves smash.
The Bearcats carried the momentum into the third set, opening an early 8-2 lead before the Bobcats closed the gap to 11-7 following a Beatty kill and a Lander miscue. Lander responded with a 12-2 run, snatching a 23-9 advantage on a smash from Ferreira-Alves. The Bobcats refused to give in, countering with an 8-1 spurt that was capped by a block from Beatty, fighting off four match points before Lander closed out the win with a Bradley kill.
