L-R Volleyball Downs Catawba, 3-1 PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (3-1, 2-0) remained unbeaten in South Atlantic Conference play with a 3-1 victory over Catawba (0-3, 0-1) Friday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
The Bears defeated the Lady Indians by scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-15 and 25-10.
L-R junior outside hitter Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) finished with a match-high 17 kills while sophomore outside hitter Ashley Wells (Lovingston, Va.) added 14 kills as the Bears rallied to win the final three sets after falling in the first one.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore setter Briana Gottberg (Mooresville, N.C.) added 47 assists to go along with three kills and six digs in the victory.
Catawba was led by Rachel Gallup (Fredericksburg, Va.) with 11 kills and Kaytee Frabotta (Sterling Heights, Mich.) with 37 assists but the Lady Indians continue to search for their first victory of the year.
L-R finished with a .321 hitting percentage and eight service aces on the night while Catawba was done in by 11 service errors.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Lees-McRae on Tuesday night beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Catawba plays Brevard on the road in a league contest Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
