L-R Men's Soccer Blanks USC Aiken PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (2-1) picked up a 2-0 victory on the road over USC Aiken (0-2-1) Wednesday evening at Pacer Pit in a non-conference regional affair.
Freshman forward Chris Pitharas (London, ENGLAND) and junior midfielder Ben Jones (Dagenham, ENGLAND) both scored for the Bears in the shutout victory.
Pitharas opened the scoring in the 36th minute of play after finishing off a cross over the goalkeeper's head from sophomore defender Makonnan Clare (Syracuse, N.Y.).
The contest remained 1-0 until Jones headed the ball over the keeper and into the net at the 77:55 mark of the contest. The goal was Jones' team-leading second of the season while sophomore midfielder Raffaelle Di Puorto (High Point, N.C.) was credited with the assist on the play.
In goal, senior Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) earned the shutout victory. Dill made one save while USC Aiken's goalkeeper, Joshua Poissant (Windsor Locks, Conn.), suffered the loss despite making five saves.
Lenoir-Rhyne also held a 14-9 advantage in shots taken on the evening in the win. L-R remains on the road when it travels to Belmont, N.C., to face Belmont Abbey on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. USC Aiken takes on Limestone on the road on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., as well.
