The Watauga Middle School football team dropped its second straight game Wednesday night. The Wolverines (1-2) were bested by East Alexander 44-22 in Taylorsville, N.C.
Joey Watson paced Watauga offensively with a pair of touchdowns. He scored on an 80-yard run and an eight-yard scamper. Parker Morgan scored on a 15-yard sweep. Braxton Moffett had scored on a pair of two-point conversions.
"We're learning right now," said Watauga coach Dale Allred. "But I really thought our offensive line did a much better job tonight. It's a work in progress, but we have some talent to work with. Tonight, we just got whipped by a better team."
Zach West and Dustin Grubb each had an interceptionl Dale Holman and Damon Moretz were stand outs on defense. Watauga returns home to play Hudson next Wednesday at Jack Groce Stadium at 4:30 p.m.
