Wood Paces WHS In Conference Opener PDF Print

Watauga High senior Savannah Wood captured medalist honors and the WHS girl's golf team finished in a first-place tie in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference

opener Monday at the Boone Golf Club. Wood fired a one-over-par 37 and bested the field by two shots. Patricia Thompson of South Caldwell and Faith Sronce of St. Stephens finished in a second-place tie. They each fired a three-over-par 39. Mary Seramur of the Pioneers finished in a fourth-place tie with Caroline Howes of South Caldwell, six shots back with a seven-over-par 43.
The Pioneers and the Spartans shared the lead with a 131; Hickory finished third with a 146, 15 shots back. Heather Ostwalt of the Pioneers finished the day at 15 over with a 51; Victoria Stapleton of the Pioneers had a 54 and Victoria Shukar finished with a 61.
