PIONEERS WIN NW3A/4A OPENER PDF Print

Woody McKay and the Watauga High boy's soccer team just keep chugging along. The Pioneers (8-0

overall; 1-0 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) won their eighth consecutive game Monday night by knocking off Hibriten 2-0 in Lenior, N.C., in the NW3A/4A opener for both teams.
Logan Raichle put WHS on top to stay with a goal at the two-minute mark of the first half. Came Linnville, who picked up an assist on Raichle's goal, closed things out with a goal 22-minutes later on a feed from Tucker Chasteen.
"And that was basically it," McKay said. "They had a couple of scoring chances, but we did a good job keeping them in check, defensively. We're playing with a lot of confidence right now, but we're also pretty steady. We know what we need to do going into a match, and we're were getting it done on a consistent basis."
The Pioneers have been extremely stingy this season. They've only given up six goals, and they earned their third shutout of the season in Monday's win. The Pioneers travel to Morganton-Patton Wednesday night.
The Pioneers won the JV match, 5-0. Freshman Kobe Araica and Andre Leeder each scored twice to pace the Pioneers. Freddy Aguilera had two assists. Trevor Reep had the other WHS goal; Powell Glidewell and Mario Mendez each had an assist.

WHS VOLLEYBALL WINS THIRD STRAIGHT
