Corrigan Named SoCon Offensive Player of Week PDF Print

Appalachian State University volleyball’s Emily Corrigan (Johns Creek, Ga./Chattahoochee) was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 9, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Corrigan led the Mountaineers with 53 kills in four matches, good enough for a team-high 3.79 kills per set. She also finished second on the team in digs per set, averaging 2.14 and totaling 30 digs in last week’s matches, while amassing a team-high 57.5 points and averaging 4.11 per game.
The sophomore outside hitter led the team in kills in three of four matches last week, and notched a double-double in the team’s hard-fought match against Presbyterian with 20 kills and 16 digs. She had a season-high 20 kills at Presbyterian, along with her top three season highs in points with 21 against PC, 14 versus Towson and 13 against tournament host NC State.
Looking ahead, Corrigan and the Mountaineers will travel to Waco, Texas to compete in the Baylor Tournament on Sept. 13 and 14. Appalachian will square off against Colorado at 10 a.m. on Friday, followed by Baylor at 7 p.m. The Apps will then face Northwestern State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
