Pioneers Sweep Cougars, Mountaineers At Home PDF Print

The Watauga High volleyball team took out its frustrations on Alexander Central and Mitchell on Saturday in a non-conference tri-match at Lentz-Eggers Gym.  The Pioneers (6-3) defeated Alexander Central, 3-0, 25-15, 25-18, 25-21; they defeated Mitchell in a three-game sweep, 25-10, 25-8, 25-10.
Whitney Dunnigan racked up 42 assists and four kills on the day. Meredith Farthing was a force on the front line with 26 kills, three blocks, 15 digs and five aces. Kiersten McClannon had six kills, three blocks, five aces, and 20 dig. Sierra Hill had 20 kills; Rebecca Hayes had 15 kills, four aces and six blocks; Savannah Rusher, who played against Alexander Central, had 19 assists and three aces.
The Pioneers, who are 1-2 in Northwestern Conference play, return to league play Monday night in Lenior against Hibriten.
