|Bears Win Season Opener Over Montevallo|

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (1-0) opened the 2013 season with a 3-1 victory over Montevallo (0-1) Friday evening at the Catawba Invitational at Goodman
Gymnasium. The Bears won by scores of 20-25, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-12.
L-R sophomore setter Briana Gottberg (Mooresville, N.C.) finished with 36 assists and 16 digs while junior outside hitter Haley Rhyne (Statesville, N.C.) added a double-double as well with 10 kills and 11 digs in the win. Lenoir-Rhyne senior middle blocker Kayla Morrow (China Grove, N.C.) totaled a team-high 11 kills as the Bears rallied from a one-set deficit to take the win as they prevailed in sets two, three and four.
For Montevallo, Manyi Ati (Lawrenceville, Ga.) finished with a match-high 13 kills and Kaleigh Harvey (Katy, Texas) came up with 34 digs despite the loss. Lenoir-Rhyne faces Shippensburg (Pa.) on the second and final day of the tournament in Salisbury, N.C., on Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m.
Lenoir-Rhyne's 2013 home opener is Tuesday evening against Queens in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
