Apparantly, there is life after Zac Pollard. Well, at least that was the case Friday night. The South Caldwell High football team, playing its first game without its All-State player, Zac Pollard, who suffered a serious knee injury last Friday night, knocked off Alexander Central 17-13 at Cougars Stadium in Taylorsville, N.C.
Junior tailback Gavin Reed finished with 177 total yards (94 rushing, 83 receiving) and scored one touchdown in Friday night's win. Aiding the Spartans’ cause was some slippery ball handling by Alexander Central (0-2) which finished with 261 yards on the ground. The Cougars’ four giveaways came on nine fumbles.
