Bobcats Open Season Strong PDF Print

Senior Tyler Dunn (Jasper, Ga.) finished 11th overall to pace the Lees-McRae College men's cross country team to a fourth-place performance at the Buffalo Valley Stampede on Friday evening. Tennessee Wesleyan claimed the top spot in the team standings with 29 points, followed by host Milligan College (58), North Greenville University (76), Lees-McRae (100), Montreat College (135) and Emory & Henry College (143).
Dunn led the way for Lees-McRae in 11th with a time of 20:16.19, followed closely by freshman Anthony Carroll (Stevensville, Md.) in 14th with a mark of 20:27.09. Senior Michael Davis (Independence, Va.) and Colby Shell (Wilkesboro, N.C.) finished 24th and 25th, respectively, as Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) placed 31st to round out the scorers for the Bobcats.
Freshmen Sean Condon (Walnut Cove, N.C.), Brandon Sherrill (Sherills Ford, N.C.) and Pablo Gavillan (Orlando, Fla.) each made strong collegiate debuts with a trio of top-50 finishes.
Senior Heather Peterman (Buford, Ga.) led the Lees-McRae College women's cross country team to a season-opening fifth-place performance at the Buffalo Valley Stampede on Friday evening. Host Milligan College claimed the top spot in the team standings with 20 points, followed by Tennessee Wesleyan (46), North Greenville University (63), Emory & Henry College (116), and Lees-McRae (155).
Peterson paced the Bobcats in 40th with a time of 25:29.47, as Sarah Monday (Lexington, N.C.) finished close behind in 42nd. Makayla Boswell (Mocksville, N.C.) made her collegiate debut in 44th, and was joined by Jessica Hattabaugh (Hamilton, Mass.) and Erin Bingham (West Jefferson, N.C.) in 45th and 46th, respectively.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, September 14 when the Bobcats travel to Asheville, N.C. to take part in the UNC Asheville Invitational.
