Josh Snyder has been named the new assistant men's basketball coach at Lees-McRae College, announced head coach Steve Hardin Thursday.
"Josh will be a good addition to our basketball staff," said Snyder.  "He works hard, extremely organized, and is a grinder.  This is an exciting time at LMC for men's basketball and I am glad to have Josh apart of it."
Snyder joins the Bobcats following appointments with NCAA Division I programs Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Snyder has spent the last two years as a graduate assistant manager on Coach Buzz Peterson's staff at UNCW. During his tenure, Snyder coordinated team travel, assisted with recruiting and played an important role in practice and skill development sessions for the Seahawks.
"I am blessed and excited to become a part of the Bobcat men's basketball program," said Snyder. "I have had the privilege of learning under several great coaches in Buzz Peterson at UNCW and Appalachian State, Houston Fancher at Appalachian State, and Monty Gray at Robert B. Glenn High School who have helped me in my personal and professional growth of becoming a coach."
Prior to his stint at UNCW, Snyder previously served as a student manager at Appalachian State from 2007 to 2010, assisting with all aspects of the Mountaineer program. While at the Boone, N.C. school, Snyder helped with film and practice sessions, while also assisting with team travel.
Snyder began his coaching career while at Robert B. Glenn High School in Kernersville, North Carolina during the 2010 season. While there, he served as the assistant boys' varsity coach for Coach Monty Gray.
"I would like to thank the previous staffs that I have worked with at UNC Wilmington and Appalachian State for their great support," expressed Snyder. "I appreciate this opportunity Coach (Steve) Hardin has given me to join his staff, and I look forward to working with both he and Coach (Brandon) Rosser to take the program to new heights."
In addition to his coaching experience, Snyder has served on the camp staffs at UNCW, Clemson, Campbell, the College of Charleston, ASU and Team USA Select. Snyder earned his Bachelor of Science in history and secondary education from ASU in 2010 and is working toward his Master of Arts in liberal studies at UNCW.
